A Milestone in Sri Lanka Cricket History – Thisara Perera

An opportunity to blend with local and international superstars – Duvindu

Sri Lanka’s former ODI and T20i Captain Thisara Perera hailed the Inaugural Lanka Premier League 2020, describing it as a milestone in Sri Lanka’s Cricket history. 
 
Perera, an Icon Player of the tournament, and who will lead Jaffna Stallions in the inaugural LPL, also said the tournament is a big opportunity for the youngsters and also for the experienced campaigners. 
 
Another Sri Lanka Star, Lakshan Sandakan who represents Sri Lanka across formats, says he too expects the inaugural tournament to provide a platform for Sri Lankan players to gain required international cricketing exposure. 
 
In the meantime, 24-year Duvindu Tillakaratne, who became the leading wicket-taker in the Major League Tournament of 2019 – 20 and represents the Galle Gladiators team said the tournament is a great initiative, especially for the youngsters, as they get an opportunity to blend with the national and international superstars of the game. 
 
He is of the view that the LPL 2020 is going to be an immense learning curve for all players involved in the competition. 
 
Another First-Class Cricketer, 26-year-old Nuwan Thushara of Galle Gladiators said the tournament is an opportunity for players like him to make an impression and move forward. 
 
From Pallekele to Hambantota 
 
In the meantime, more players from the Sri Lanka National Squad, who were engaged in a 10-day training camp at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, focusing on the upcoming South Africa Tour arrived in Hambantota during this evening and was moved from Bubble to Bubble. 
 

Team Practices 
 
With the tournament date nearing, teams taking part in the tournament will start practicing at the MRICS, Hambantota tomorrow (23rdNovember).
