2024 ජුලි 26 වැනිදා සිට ප්‍රංශයේ පැරිස් නුවරදී ආරම්භ වීමට නියමිත ඔලිම්පික් ක්‍රීඩා උළෙල සදහා තරග වැදීමට අවශ්‍ය පරිසාදන මට්ටම සපුරන මෙරට හා විදේශයන්හි පදිංචි ශ්රී ලාංකේය ක්‍රීඩක ක්‍රීඩිකාවන්ට අවස්ථාව ලබා දීම සදහා වැඩසටහනක් සකස් කරන ලෙස ක්‍රීඩා අමාත්‍ය හරීන් ප්‍රනාන්දු මහතා විසින් ක්‍රීඩා අධ්‍යක්ෂ ජනරාල් (රියර් අද්මිරාල්) මහාචාර්ය ෂේමාල් ප්‍රනාන්දු මහතා වෙත උපදෙස් ලබා දී තිබේ.
ක්‍රීඩක ක්‍රීඩිකාවන්ට 2024 ජනවාරි සිට ජූලි දක්වා ඔලිම්පික් සුදුසුකම් ලැබීමේ ජාත්‍යන්තර තරඟ සඳහා සහභාගී වී සුදුසුකම් ලැබීමේ ප්‍රමිතීන් හා කඩයිම් දක්ෂතා සපුරාලීමට අවශ්‍ය සියලු පහසුකම් සහ අරමුදල් “Road To Olympic” වැඩසටහන යටතේ ලබා දීමට අමාත්‍යවරයා විසින් උපදෙස් ලබා දී ඇති බව ක්‍රීඩා අධ්‍යක්ෂ ජනරාල්වරයා පැවසීය. මේ සදහා අවශ්‍ය කටයුතු සොයාබලන ලෙස ක්‍රීඩා අමාත්‍යවරයා විසින් මේ වන විටත් ආචාර්ය මයියා ගුණසේකරගේ ප්‍රධානත්වයෙන් යුත් ජාතික ක්‍රීඩා සභාවට (NSC) උපදෙස් ලබා දී ඇත.

Hon. Harin Fernando Opens Doors for Sri Lankan Athletes to Qualify for Paris 2024 Olympics
In anticipation of the 2024 Olympic Year, Hon. Harin Fernando, Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs, aligning with the Olympic spirit, has instructed the Director General of Sports to provide equal opportunities for Sri Lankan youth to attain qualifications for the upcoming Summer Olympic Games in Paris, France, starting on July 26, 2024.
As the Cabinet Minister of Sports, Hon. Harin Fernando will secure special approval from the Cabinet of Ministers for the innovative programme, “Road to Olympics.” This initiative ensures that Sri Lankan athletes receive all necessary facilities and funding to participate in crucial Olympic Qualifiers and international competitions from January to July 2024, aiming to meet the qualification standards.
The National Sports Council led by Dr. Maiya Gunasekera entrusted the herculean task to the Director General of Sports, Professor (Rear Admiral) Shemal Fernando, Mr. Hafeez Marso, Major General Rajitha Ampemohotti, and Mrs. Sriyani Kulawansa, who have carefully selected 44 top athletes from various sports disciplines.
Hon. Harin Fernando emphasizes inclusivity by offering an opportunity to those who missed out due to various reasons.
